I've been using Amsoil for the last 250,000 miles of driving between my current and prior car. I just wish I'd discovered it sooner. When I first switched to it, I kept careful MPG records and found that the increase in mileage with Amsoil more than offset the higher cost of the synthetic usage. What's more important, oil consumption in both cars between oil changes (6,000 miles on average, which I arrived at as a time for changes based on lab analysis of the used oil) has been zero, even when my last car was up at 200,000+ miles.
I bought a 2005 GMC Serra 1500 new in November 2004. I have used XL5-30 and wix oil filter ever sense the first oil change. It now has 183000 miles on it and other than a set of spark plugs (it's due for another) the motor has been untouched and runs great dose not use but half a quart of oil between oil changes (every six months). I also have changed the transmission fluid twice and used am soil transmission fluid and wix filter and the fluid is always nice and red and no transmission problems. My 1996 Harley Davidson electraglide has been running on 20-50 V-twin oil in the motor, tranny, and primary for years again no problems great stuff !
Amsoil has been the only choice in lubricants since 1985, what else needs saying? Multiple BMW motorcycles, my wife's 2000 F150 with many miles, a couple of Suzuki Sidekicks, both high mileage with routine maintenance only. Enough to convince even those with little automotive knowledge.
My wifes subaru used to burn the oil to the point of being black within less than a 1000 miles after an oil change. Tried Amsoil, at the time of the oil change it came out looking slightly darker than than fresh oil....incredible! Her car also used to use 2 quarts between oil changes, now only uses 1. When I put it in my F150 the engine was noticeably quiter! I'm definitely sold on Amsoil!
Bottom Line
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

I finally talked my Friend into trying an oil Change to Amsoil. After changing he told me that his truck seemed to be running better, starting much easier, and he thought he was getting better milage. A few days later he told me that now he knew he was getting better milage, about 2mpg. His truck is an older Chevrolet half to 4wd extra cab. I personally was converted a few years ago but thats another story. We can call my friend Brent, He has been building hot rods and high performance motors for years. He wanted one grade higher in weight than was recommended for his truck because of the high miles but now thinks he would have been fine. He is converted and wants to get gear oil and atf so he can change all his fluids to Amsoil products. We will both be changing differentials and transfer case lubricants at the same time.
The 5.7 sees some harsh use during the summer. Towing, extended idling time and dusty roads tend to abuse oil. The Amsoil stands up to the job. Because it is still under warranty I do not exceed the manufacturer recommended service intervals but lab tests show the oil can go well beyond that.

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
